NY CityFest Update

Celebrating God's Work!

Dear Praying Women of the Northwest,

What an amazing time we had this past week in New York City! One of many highlights was hearing Matt Redman lead worship, and give his testimony: he came to Christ 30 years ago at a soccer stadium in London where Luis was preaching. What a wonderful way God brings things full circle!

Before the big event at Central Park on Saturday, a large group circled through the Park and prayed for those coming, those planning and those ministering during the event. It was a blessed time. All felt honored to be there, praying for Central Park alongside those praying throughout the United States! God was there and we saw evidence of that in so many ways. The weather, for one thing, was absolutely perfect! What a praise, when the forecast earlier had been for rain!

I hope you have been able to view at least one of the multiple videos that have been emailed to the NWPT by Gail Stockamp, our prayer leader. These videos (also on YouTube) capture the flavor of the event, and the joy that surrounded those who were at Radio City Music Hall, Times Square and Central Park. You could feel the excitement and joy in the air as Luis and Andrew preached, and as Mandisa, TobyMac, Hezekiah Walker and so many others praised God through their music. Mayor de Blasio came to welcome the event, and surprise artist Chris Tomlin got a warm welcome as well!

~~For the more than 10,000 individuals who committed their lives to Christ during the past many months of CityServe and CityFest events. Pray that their faith would grow to maturity and each one would find a community of believers to connect to and thrive in.

~~The New York City Team has expressed their thanks many times over for your covering of this event in much prayer. We need to continue to pray for the New York City team as they wrap up their duties; some continuing there and others moving on. Pray for rest and renewal for each team member and their families, and that they would keep their eyes fixed on Jesus.

Staten Island Update

Dear Prayer Warriors of the Northwest,

We are counting down until July 11--just 24 days! Today is Thursday, our day for fasting and praying for Staten Island and the NY CityFest and all the many events surrounding it.

  • Pray for continued health, strength and stamina for Luis and the staff. For Tom Mueller and his team, pray for renewal, encouragement and safety.
  • Pray for Luis, Andrew and Wendy--for discernment as they prepare messages for each unique audience, with God’s agenda, not their own.
  • Pray for those coordinating the ticket distribution for the July 11 Central Park event. 60,000 tickets are available for free distribution.
  • Pray for those who receive tickets, that they would attend with open hearts, and ask their friends and family to attend with them.
  • Pray for the counselors that are being trained, that they would step forward and be available to share the Gospel with festival attendees.

I love the Lord, for he heard my voice: he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live. Psalm 116: 1-2.

Dear prayer warriors, we long for the people of Staten Island and New York City to seek and find the mercy of the Lord. Let’s continue to intercede for them. Call on our Lord for their sake.

April Update

Hello Northwest Region,

 Things are moving along, and we now have less than 90 days until the event in Central Park! We praise God for all he is doing on Staten Island, for the cooperation between so many churches, as they join hands to minister to the most troubled neighborhoods, the unchurched and neighbors in distress.

Points of praise
Praise for the 17,000 connected by social media to NYCityFest in both English and Spanish!
Praise for the 1,500 churches already on board with NYCityFest. 

Points for prayer
~Continue to pray for this week, April 20-25, a key week in the ministry to Staten Island. 
~Pray for open doors in these many events and against the enemy as he seeks to limit the harvest.
~Pray for the ministry of Andrew Palau & his team to the local prisons during this week, for freedom to share, for open hearts, and for protection.
~Pray for Andrew Palau as he ministers at the youth event on April 24, that many young people will have their hearts and lives changed and for all the final details for this event to come together smoothly.
~Pray for the May Staten Island park events/mini festivals, that the details would come together successfully.
~Pray for Tom Mueller, area director, and his staff, for stamina, guidance and direction.
~Pray for protection for the staff and for their precious families during this incredibly busy season.
~Pray for Robin, who is in charge of coordinating volunteers, a massive undertaking. 
~Pray for the 10,000 volunteers needed, that they would respond to the call the Lord puts on their hearts.
~Pray for the ad campaign “Good News in the City,” and for the promotional materials being distributed to 14,000 churches. These churches may have no awareness of the NYCityFest, this would be their first point of contact and we must ask God to draw whole churches to this effort. Pray as these materials are finalized and readied for distribution.
~Pray for Wendy Palau and the Women’s Outreach dinner event planned for June 1 at Chelsea Piers, for the planning that must take place between now and then, for details and unity.
~Pray for the push to alert the Tri-County area about NYCityFest by social media, mail, phone, email blast, and Christian radio in these last key days and weeks before the Festival.

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us...Eph. 3:20

Greetings from the Northwest Region! Thank you for being intercessors for Staten Island and for all of New York City and the Tri-State region. Many exciting events are happening, or about to happen, and I feel so blessed to be able to lift these praises and requests to our Father alongside you.

 Our theme this month of March is INTERCESSION.  As was shared during our March 10th national prayer call by Connie, our SW Regional director: “Never underestimate the possibility of a reversal of God’s judgment through a loving intercessor. Is there a more awesome role? It has happened in the Bible a numbers of times since. Take note how the early disciples prayed during the night for Peter when he was in prison. It resulted in an escape with an angelic escort (Acts 12:7-12). Prepare to pay a price in intercession when friends or leaders are in crisis situations. We are to always pray for the seemingly impossible, (like NYC!) and never to limit God’s ability or minimize the effectiveness of our partnership with Him in prayer...we have a vital role in what has occurred, what is occurring, and what will occur in NY.” Amen.

Points of praise...
~for the provisional approval for Central Park on July 11-what a wonderful praise this is! We continue to pray for all the many details involved to make this happen.

~the fundraising dinner in Portland last week was very successful, and a wonderful testimony of all going on in New York right now. We praise God for the resources coming in to support this event.   

~this past weekend the For This City Youth Events were held with overflowing crowds of young people, many rededicated to their faith, and the ReNew Events held just weeks before, again with overflow crowds, reenergizing the church body to come together and to serve their community.

Prayer Points...
~the Mini-Festival with Andrew Palau and the band LZ7 the weekend of April 24-26 on Staten Island. Urgent prayer for the venues arrangements to be finalized.

~pray for the week of April 20, when the team will be ministering in schools and prisons around Staten Island; for April 23, an outreach night for college age students; for April 24, an outreach night for high school students; all this leading up to the Mini-Festival April 24-26   

~pray for our area director Tom Mueller and his team; for strength, faith, health, encouragement, and protection to do the task set before them. 

~pray for March 28 Nyack (College) Service day--10 locations all over the region will host volunteers for service opportunities to the homeless, in public schools and more.

~continue to pray for unity within the community of believers, that pastors and churches would unite as never before, and for peace and restoration for Staten Island.

~pray for positive media coverage over all these events, that the Lord would be glorified.

St. Augustine said: “Without God, we cannot; without us, God will not.” I count myself as blessed to be interceding along with you for Staten Island, New York CityFest and CityServe. There are now 1800 members of the National Women’s Prayer Team! Bless you as you lift up these prayers to bring revival to Staten Island, New York City and our country.

February Update

Dear Praying Women in the Northwest,

As we pray for Staten Island, I wanted to first ask you to earnestly pray for a request we received from a pastor in Staten Island. Tragedy has struck the lives of many this past week and we want to seek God on behalf of those effected and their community that desperately needs the light of Jesus!

From the Pastor:

“Last week two young men died tragically near our church in separate instances. Services for both young men will be held this week at our church (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday & Friday).  There may be several hundred people at each service. 

I can't even explain how much I need your prayers for God's Holy Spirit to fall on those gatherings. There is so much hopelessness in the hearts of kids in the community.  Pray for God to raise up a mighty army from this valley of dry bones.”      

Praying sisters, let us pray for the power of God to sweep through this church as many who need Jesus gather in despair, anger and hopelessness. May God replace these things with His grace, forgiveness, and hope.

Thank you for being on your knees at this vital time. God is blessed when we raise our voices together!

Greetings from the Northwest Region! Things are really heating up as we move closer to spring. Please check out the National Women's Prayer Team Facebook page for more current updates about the happenings in the New York City area-it is super exciting to see how God is moving!

Points of Praise

  • There are over 1500 people now part of the National Women's Prayer Team, praying all over the U.S. for New York CityServe and CityFest! That is wonderful. We want to continue to pray for more to come alongside us to lift up this ongoing event. Much is happening right now, and will continue for months to come. We are asking the Lord to send out workers into the harvest. Matthew 9:38
  • The Re:New Conferences held this past week in the Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn and New Jersey were an amazing blessing. These meetings had overflow crowds and people were challenged and renewed. This will surely be a catalyst of inspiration as we head into the many months of ministry ahead!

Points for Prayer

  • Pray for the planning of the Mini Festival taking place April 24-26 on Staten Island featuring Andrew Palau and the band LZ7. There will be a Friday night youth event, a park outreach and proclamation on Saturday, and again on Sunday, April 26.
  • Pray as the school administrators are contacted about holding school assemblies the week leading up to the Mini Festival, that they would be approved and welcomed.
  • Pray for each detail of this weekend event, that the Lord would guide and direct their planning, and give them favor with those in charge.
  • Continue to pray for unity and peace in Staten Island, in a time of difficulty and division. Pray for unity between churches and ministries, as well as between those not yet involved in this ministry and those being ministered to.
  • Pray for more churches to join in and see the vision for their community. "Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness." James 3:18.
  • As always, lift up Tom Mueller, our Church Relations Director for Staten Island, among many other responsibilities. Pray for health, safety and protection, energy and stamina in all he has before him. Pray for encouragement and rest, too. We also pray for his wife and children, and for their health and protection. Pray that his family will feel our Lord very close to them.

Thank you, dear women who are praying for all these needs, and for unspoken needs as well. "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field." Matthew 9:37-38.

January Update

Greetings from the Northwest Region, and Happy New Year! We have much to look forward to in 2015. I'm honored to be praying alongside such a great group of prayer warriors! Our theme this month is preparation. "There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord." Proverbs 21:31. We humbly ask for the Lord's guidance and commit every plan to Him, giving Him all the glory.

Praise 

Praise for the work God is doing now, for all the pastors and churches that have committed so far and are working hard to bring revival to Staten Island and New York City. Praise for the venues already in place, for the events that are taking shape as we speak, the many meetings that are happening and have already taken place to pave the way.

Prayer

Pray for the many different events taking place January through May...
•    school assemblies
•    basketball camps with professional NBA athletes
•    outreaches to housing projects with
•    classes on financial stewardship & resume training
•    carnivals for kids
and ask the Lord to provide enthusiastic, Christ centered volunteers to help with all these events!

Pray for a mini-festival planned for Spring where there will be a week of events leading up to an outdoor concert & evangelistic outreach. Pray for planning, for the week of assemblies & activities, and for the concert and where Andrew Palau will likely speak.

Pray for Tom Mueller, his role as Church Relations Director for Staten Island, as well as, Long Island and Westchester County. He has many responsibilities, and we pray for favor for Tom, for the Lord to multiply his time and efforts.  Also for his wife and young children who have relocated to New York City. Pray for their protection, health, quality family time together, and support and encouragement.

Continue to pray for unity and peace in Staten Island, especially in light of recent events and the increase in racial tension.  Pray for understanding and unity between churches and ministries so they can work together in harmony toward common goals. Pray for a shared vision of revival in this region.
"...put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity, and let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace..." Colossians 3:14-15.

December Update

Greetings from the Northwest Region! We are in the middle of a joyous yet hectic season, and I thank you for taking time to stop and pray for events that will culminate next summer!  It is exciting to see what God is doing, and we want to keep you in the loop, particularly with the area of Staten Island, our focus of prayer.

Points of Praise

....Praise for a very positive meeting recently held with key leaders, where the borough president of Staten Island committed to this event! 

....Praise for the Christmas party held Tuesday for key leaders to celebrate our Savior's birth, for the time of fellowship and refreshment they enjoyed.

Points of Prayer

•    Pray for the above mentioned meeting (with State Island borough president) and all that goes forward from it: the coordination of service to projects, schools, and other community outreaches.  
•    Pray for the Unified Youth Service to be held later this spring that will close a week of school assemblies, and for continued guidance and direction in all the details.  Pray for continued favor from the Lord in the many meetings that are taking place as events are shaping up.
•    Lift up the Steering Committee of about 15 key leaders that will be meeting in the next few weeks. Wisdom is needed, as well as direction as they plan their outreach strategy for the upcoming evangelistic events.  We ask that the Lord will pour out His Spirit on them as they plan, and share His thoughts with them.
•    Lastly, prayer is needed for God's unity and peace on Staten Island, and in all of New York City, especially at this time. Just last month we prayed for unity and for peace as we gathered for our monthly prayer call, and this December the need is even greater after recent events in this area.  Pray for healing of the divide which has widened, and protection for all, specifically the Luis Palau staff who are now living in the greater New York City area, preparing for this event. Pray for Director Tom Mueller and his wife and young family, living in New York City, as they adjust to the area and the pace of life through the Christmas season.

November Prayer Requests for Staten Island: 

Please continue to pray for unity among the churches and ministries of Staten Island.  There is already a sense of unity in this community, but there are many churches that have not connected with other churches or ministries, so pray that they would begin to see the vision and reach out, or be open to those reaching out to them.

Many in Staten Island are still in need of renovation and restoration from the effects of Hurricane Sandy from two years ago. Pray that the church would be able to step up and meet these needs in a mighty way. Give the ministries already doing so continuing strength to complete the job.

 

October Update

  • There is a great sense of unity on Staten Island. Pray more churches will hear and engage. Pray for favor for leadership with local government.
  • Many churches are still rebuilding from the destruction of Hurricane Sandy. Pray for final push on these efforts to happen.
  • Staten Island also has a huge Liberian community. Pray for their families and friends that are dealing with Ebola in their home country and inroads for the Christian community to show their love.
  • Pray for regional outreaches to take shape and bring more partnership.

September Update

Dear Prayer Warriors,

It is my prayer that you have had a wonderful summer filled with rest, refreshment, and time with family. It’s been a busy season for the Palau team, with festivals in both Alaska and Jamaica. We’ve also been building our prayer team, and are so grateful you have joined us! God is amazing and He is at work in and through us! As we pray, our faith grows.  

“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

As we pray and grow in faith this autumn, let's keep NY CityServe & CityFest in our prayers, and watch as God moves mountains!

PRAISE

Nearly 5,000 people came together for a youth outreach in Long Island on August 20. Praise and worship events have taken place over the last 4 years, but this was the first time the Gospel was proclaimed and people were asked to make a decision for Christ. Trained counselors were hardworking, and full of faith and wisdom as they prayed with those who made decisions for Christ. We rejoice in these new lives changed for eternity!

PRAY

September 23

The official NY CityServe launch is taking place at Calvary Baptist the morning of September 23rd.  Lord willing, we are praying for a full house with a minimum of 600 churches, pastors, and leaders in attendance. The first local fundraising event is also taking place that evening.  Please pray for all tables to be hosted and filled with the right business leaders and also for a great response.

LPA Staff

  • Favor for the Palau team and church relations team as we mobilize people for NY CityServe.
  • LPA staff who have moved to NYC.
  • Three strong candidates for admin positions.
  • For strong communication between our Latin and English speaking teams.
  • Protection for every member of the team working on this campaign.
  • Wisdom for Luis and all those taking part in preparing for the outreach events.

Local NYC

  • Venue location(s) and dates.
  • For churches not yet engaged to come on board. 
  • Every ministry in NYC to be aware of and engaged in NY CityServe and CityFest.
