Dear Precious Praying Women of the South,

Thank you so much for giving your prayers and time for this effort to reach the influential place of New York City and the surrounding areas. My prayer for you is that God lets you see the fruit of your labor in many ways. There is so much happening in the area, Gail Stockamp's prayer tab is the first on this page with general updates. I would encourage you to check here up to date happenings and prayer needs.

Repentance is our theme for this month, so let us pray for the dear people of the NYC area that they will... Repent then and turn to God, so that their sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord.  Acts 3:19

Prayer needs from Tim Innes this month:

1. Mother’s Day Outreach, 5/9- This will be a breakfast where we hope to have over 400 women. Wendy Palau will speak to the women to specifically ministering to those who might have experienced loss. Please pray for the final details of this event to come together smoothly.

2. Awaken, May 30 & 31 – Two events with evangelist Mike Doyle will be held in Flushing Height School and Astoria Park.

3. Flushing Meadows Festival, June 5 – This larger scale event will be a strong joint effort between LPA’s Latino pastor team and English speaking pastor’s team. Pray for continued unity and excitement as the teams work together. There will also be strong emphasis on ministering to children as we gather children’s ministry leaders from the area to participate. Pray for this wonderful event!

4. John Boyd Tent Crusade, July 5-6 – Where both Luis & Andrew will participate.

Pray for publicity on each of these and for the leg work needed to be sure they are ready.

Thank you so much Ladies, your commitment to this effort is eternal. May God bless each one of you in ways that you cannot imagine and may He encourage your spirit in all your works and words.

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God our Father, who loved us and gave us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts and establish them in every good work and word.   2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Keep Queens Director Tim Innes in your prayers this month. See below for more prayer requests.

Dear Praying Women,
Thank you so much for lifting up the people of Queens and surrounding areas of New York City. God is moving in Queens and in many parts of New York City. This month the focus of our prayer has been on intercession. Would you believe me if I said you could reverse God's impending judgement? In Deuteronomy, Aaron disobeyed and made a gold calf for people to worship after God had given his commandment to worship no other gods. As a consequence, Aaron was going to be destroyed, but Moses prayed for him and he was spared. That is what happens when we intercede. As we pray for loved ones who don't know Christ as Savior and Lord, we are making definite petitions on behalf of definite persons with definite difficulties. The power and authority to reverse impending judgment comes not from our own righteousness, but solely on God's great love and determination. He is patient so no one will perish. Then He does the unthinkable, again, and gives us the awesome title of "royal priests!"
Let us praise God for what He is doing and INTERCEDE for the lost!

Praise with us:
•    On Friday, March 13, The first of 3 youth events, For This City, was hosted in Queens. The evening was an amazing blessing. Listen to what Tim Innes, Campaign Director for the New York City Festival, reports; “What a blessing and encouragement to see 1600 kids come together in Queens… Chris Durso delivered an amazing challenge from Samuel using David and Goliath. His main message was to be ALL IN for Jesus.  The team again worked very hard and the Lord used each element of the night to not only cast vision for the festival but also leave the kids with a very real challenge to live for the Lord. ”- PRAISE GOD WITH US FOR THESE YOUNG PEOPLE!!
•    We also continue to praise God as He works out the final details to hosting the main festival in Central Park on July 11th.
•    Praise God with us for opening the doors to another large scale festival event at Flushing Meadows (Queens) in early June! More opportunities to proclaim the Good News in The City!

Intercede with us:
•    Continue to lift up Tim Innes. Let us continue to ask for safety, wisdom, and direction for Tim as he oversees the NYC Campaign, festivals, outreaches & service opportunities. Please keep his family in your prayers as well.
•    Lift up the upcoming Easter Outreaches, April 5th, with Jake Zaske and the Astoria Churches. May the community be blessed the news of our Risen Savior!
•    Continue praying for upcoming the Mother’s Day outreach where Wendy Palau, Andrew Palau's wife will be speaking to hurting women who have suffered loss. Ask God for His Spirit to soothe and heal.
•    Pray for upcoming meetings with pastors in Flushing as details for the June festival are formulated.
•    Pray for the series of outreaches, with Mike Doyle, being planned for May.
•    Ask God for more churches in Queens to hear and get on board. And for great unity as pastors & churches work together to spread the Good News to their communities.

Thank you for standing in the gap, kneeling in the trenches and moving the hand of God through your prayers! God is blessed & lives are changed!

May God bless each of you,
Debbie Jamison

February Update

Dear Praying Friends in the South,

Praise God with us as we thank Him for all He is doing in Queens and all of the greater NYC area! He is moving and we are blessed to be a part. Thank you for praying on behalf of the lost and on behalf of those reaching out to bring them the truth and reality of Jesus’ love for them!

As we equip ourselves and pray for the equipping of those ministering on the ground in NYC, we recognize that: “We have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our bod.” (2 Corinthians 4:7-10)

Praise God together:

  • For churches being mobilized in the Queens area to work together in unity.
  • As area churches plan for an upcoming Easter Outreach to children and families.

Pray together:

  • Ask God for favor as LPA works with Greater Allen AME church to plan a Mother’s Day event that will specifically reach out to mom’s who are dealing with loss.
  • For outreaches in schools and prisons, being scheduled for April.
  • Ask God for favor as the team seeks to host an event at Flushing Meadows. This event will be geared to strongly engage the Latin community in the area, while also crossing cultural lines with all others represented.
  • Beseech God for the lost in this community and that they might find their way to one of the many outreach events being hosted. Pray they would respond to Jesus’ call on their lives!
  • Pray for new office space for the team.

Thank you praying friends for your faithful prayers! God is honored and blessed through you.

"May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it."
(1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)

January Update

Dear Prayer Warriors,

Yesterday, I attended the Second Term Inaugural Prayer Service for Tennessee Governor, Bill Haslam, held in the historic Ryman Auditorium. The service was amazing for many reasons, the program, it's participants, and the venue. The Ryman is a beautiful old church in the middle of downtown Nashville. It is the original home to the Grand Ole Opry and known as the Mother Church of Country Music. The origin and history of the Ryman were born out of an intriguing story of revival in 1885. You can learn more here

The prayer service included performers who each sang a solo, the last one was Amy Grant. When she came out, she said that she had never done this before but she would like to pray in addition to singing her song, which would be El Shaddai. She then invited everyone who could squeeze between the pews (very little knee room in between rows) to join her in kneeling to pray for our Governor and the state of Tennessee. The venue was packed and most were on their knees. This was so powerful and reminded me of the power of prayer and what we are doing in praying for New York City. So be encouraged ladies, keep on praying with expectation for New York City and all the possibilities, opportunities for the Festival to bring Jesus' love and forgiveness to a city and nation in great need.

Thank you for lifting up the borough of Queens. As always please remember Tim Innes, Festival Director and his sweet family, as he is working many hours. 2 Corinthians 9:10-11 says, “For God is the one who provides seed for the farmer and then bread to eat. In the same way, he will provide and increase your resources and then produce a great harvest of generosity in you. Yes, you will be enriched in every way so that you can always be generous. And when we take your gifts to those who need them, they will thank God.” Please pray for seed to be sown in preparation for the harvest!

Specific requests for Queens are:

•    Pray for Jake Zaske and the Astoria churches in preparation for an Easter Outreach.
•    Pray for pastors and workers in Queens: Ted Gandy, Joel Sadapphal, Nicole Edness, Rich Villotas, Adam and Michael Durso, Daniel Rachman, Greg Woo, Bishop Roderick Casesar.
•    Mother's Day Outreach with Greater Allen AME, which will minister to moms dealing with loss.
•    School assemblies and prison outreach coming in April.
•    Mike Doyle and park outreaches being planned for April.
•    John Boyd Tent Crusade in early July- right before CP festival. First night Luis, second night Andrew
•    Luis and Andrew for opportunities to speak in the eight larger churches in NYC in final four weeks. May God open doors!
•    Pray for a possible outreach with the Latin LPA team at Flushing Meadows.
•    Pray for joy and awareness for each believer in winning others for Christ.
•    Communications on every front to be complete and God-honoring.
•    Please pray for women to step up as prayer state coordinators in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Kentucky.

Thank you for your partnership. God bless you all!

James 3:18 Peacemakers who sow in peace reap a harvest of righteousness. Lord we pray this for the  New York City Festival workers. Let it be so.

December Update

Greetings Praying Friends in the South,
Advent blessings to each of you! As you anticipate the celebration of our Savior’s birth, may you be blessed with peace and joy in your hearts that reflects the true wonder of Jesus.
Thank you for taking time in your busy holiday schedule to continue to lift New York, specifically Queens, before our Lord. We know that He is honored. Our prayer is that, come this time next year, there will be many, many more people celebrating Jesus and the salvation He offers for all! We are asking God to work wonders, starting in NYC and flooding through our nation. How different might this season look if we were in the midst of National Revival?!
Praise God:
As we near the New Year and the festival approaches, let us praise God for what He is doing. All around New York pastors and church leaders are meeting, dreaming and casting vision for what a unified effort to share Christ both practically and evangelistically might look like in their neighborhoods. Praise God for how He is drawing people together and revealing His plan!
Please also praise God for Wendy Palau’s opportunity to share with over 500 women from Queens & Brooklyn this past month. In Wendy’s words, "It was absolutely beautiful. Truly. The room was packed to overflowing... There was a spirit of joy, celebration and expectation. I felt such freedom in the Spirit to speak like never before."

Pray for:
•     Joel Sadappahl as he works with area pastors to build unity, enthusiasm and involvement.

•    Ted Gandy who has been an amazing support. Ted has been in NYC for over 25 years and works with CRU (Campus Crusade for Christ). He is dedicating almost all of his time to helping mobilize believers.

•    Krystin, Tim Innes' new assistant in NYC. She is supporting the work in Queens.

•    Mike Doyle who is planning 3 - 4 park outreaches in the spring. These are being shaped to appeal to families in the city.

•    God to identify schools to team up with on partnerships and school assemblies which may then lead to outreach events and service.

•    A Mother's Day outreach with Allen AME a large African American church where we hope to gather 300-500 women who have experienced loss to encourage and share the Good News.

•    Our partnership with John Boyd, who has an annual tent crusade and is inviting us to partner with him in this.

•    Wisdom on integrating the Latino LPA team and English speaking LPA team as we minister with one purpose.

•    A possible children's outreach with Promise Church taking a key role. This would be a large ministry opportunity to the Korean population in the area.

•    As we pursue an Easter outreach in Astoria with a number of churches.

As we anticipate all God will do in response, thank you for your prayers! May you enjoy this Christmas season and recognize Jesus in your everyday.

November Update

Dear Pray-ers,

Thank you so much for agreeing to lift up New York City and God's work there. Service and events in NYC are already underway in the Luis Palau Association. A few weeks ago in Fairfield County in Connecticut (part of the nine areas in and around NYC for this work), there were more than 4,000 people ministered to in various schools and outreaches, with many making decisions. At one youth event, 500 attended and 83 young people made decisions to follow Christ. Local pastors and counselors were on hand to help them understand their decision and to introduce them to the discipleship process. Similarly at a nearby prison and group home, others accepted Christ also.

Our region’s festival director Tim Innes sent these prayer requests on for our team to keep in mind:

“Had a super consultation with 10 pastors on Friday in eastern Queens. Lot of vision for unity and working together. One of the pastors has an annual tent outreach that likely Andrew Palau will speak at in June before the main festival. We have two more consultations coming up, one in Flushing and one in Ozone Park, among several others. With each of the consultations, pray for a clear map of ministry to emerge and for strong conveners to be committed for the long term in these neighborhoods.

Keep praying for leadership and for understanding on the various needs for the festival and events leading up to the summer.”

Again, thank you for praying with me! The potential for revival and the ripple effects from NYC are far reaching. Thanks for being involved.

In Christ,

Debbie

October Update

  • Pray for Ted and Joel, and a leader to continue to mobilize the Asian community. Pray for wisdom on who that person is and pray the Lord will guide us to that person.
  • Pray for smaller neighborhood pastors groups to help grow the unity at grass roots level and dream together regarding opportunities to serve and proclaim.
  • Pray for wisdom on how to engage the Korean community. We have a great partner in Promise Church where Nan Soo Kim is a leader and honorary Chair for the campaign.
  • Continue to pray for leadership decisions--between now and end of the year we will want to get our counseling and follow up leadership identified along with leadership for various regional events.
  • Nov. 1 is date for submitting applications for the festival venue, which is between Flushing Meadows and Central Park. There are challenges around the ticketing system used when applying it to a free event like ours. Again, pray for wisdom, favor and open doors.
  • We still need to hire 2 operations coordinators, one for Queens and Westchester County and one for Staten Island and Long Island. Pray for the right candidates to emerge.

September Update

Dear Prayer Warriors,

It is my prayer that you have had a wonderful summer filled with rest, refreshment, and time with family. It’s been a busy season for the Palau team, with festivals in both Alaska and Jamaica. We’ve also been building our prayer team, and are so grateful you have joined us! God is amazing and He is at work in and through us! As we pray, our faith grows.

“I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, “Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

As we pray and grow in faith this autumn, let's keep NY CityServe & CityFest in our prayers, and watch as God moves mountains!

PRAISE

Nearly 5,000 people came together for a youth outreach in Long Island on August 20. Praise and worship events have taken place over the last 4 years, but this was the first time the Gospel was proclaimed and people were asked to make a decision for Christ. Trained counselors were hardworking, and full of faith and wisdom as they prayed with those who made decisions for Christ. We rejoice in these new lives changed for eternity!

PRAY

The official NY CityServe launch is taking place at Calvary Baptist the morning of September 23rd.  Lord willing, we are praying for a full house with a minimum of 600 churches, pastors, and leaders in attendance. The first local fundraising event is also taking place that evening.  Please pray for all tables to be hosted and filled with the right business leaders and also for a great response.

LPA Staff

  • Favor for the Palau team and church relations team as we mobilize people for NY CityServe.
  • LPA staff who have moved to NYC.
  • Three strong candidates for admin positions.
  • For strong communication between our Latin and English speaking teams.
  • Protection for every member of the team working on this campaign.
  • Wisdom for Luis and all those taking part in preparing for the outreach events.

Local NYC

  • Venue location(s) and dates.
  • For churches not yet engaged to come on board.
  • Every ministry in NYC to be aware of and engaged in NY CityServe and CityFest.
